The Jewish people knew that it wasn't just their ancestors that were brought out of Egypt, but in a very real sense God delivered them as well. The Exodus story is one of the most cited stories in all of Scripture, because the deliverance of God isn't just something that happened, but something that happens. God is in the business of delivering people, from their addictions, from living a life of mediocrity, from their sin. What's your Exodus?
|
Christmas is known as a time of peace on earth and Goodwill toward men, stockings and eggnog, presents and lights. But it wasn't always that way. The Gospel writers saw God becoming flesh as much more than just a new holiday to celebrate, they saw it as nothing less than a revolution.

The first few chapters in Genesis are some of the most rich parts of the Bible. We see God's intention for creation as well as the bent of humanity for disobedience. But through it all we see a God who is willing to take Creation where it is back to where He always wanted it to be. These is the arc of Scripture, as well as where God claims history is headed. There will be a day of no more suffering, war, injustice, or tears. The tyrant and the victim will walk hand-in-hand, tanks will become tractors, and enemies will be friends. We are headed back to our Origins.
